M79

The M79 is a single-shot, break-action grenade launcher that fires the 40x46mm grenade round. In the game, it is much less expensive than the Milkor MGL, but suffers from little ammunition and a basic post sight. However, as a surprise weapon, the M79 is superb. It is able to take out a vehicle in one shot, and is very reliable due to its simple break-action operation. It complements standard assault weapons well, and is eminently suitable for quickly countering the mad vehicle-based rushes that the guards of Far Cry 2 are known for. The M79 can also be used to soften up a guard post before the main assault, but is less useful for sustained bombardment, as even with the ammunition upgrade, the player may only carry a maximum of five grenades, with one loaded into the launcher. Nevertheless, the M79 is a highly functional weapon.
